Chemistry is more than an industry, it is first and foremost a science. Chemistry is the stuff of our entire universe, which is composed of around one hundred different atoms that combine to produce all the creations of the world. For thousands of years, humans have been practising chemistry to colour, extract, ferment and emulsify. Little by little, this highly creative science has led to a wealth of technological advances (e.g. in electronics, pharmacy and materials). It has unfortunately also been responsible for some serious damage to health and the environment. Today, chemistry’s objective is to become a sustainable technology in harmony with the principles of recycling and non-toxicity widely present in nature.
